The Warwickshire Hunt was founded in 1791 being the idea of Mr Corbet who enjoyed hunting in the county, while half a century later kennels were built at Little Kineton in 1839. The year before, in April 1838, the Warwickshire Hunt group had staged their first race meeting and continued to stage meetings intermittently thereafter. In 1853 a separate group, the North Warwickshire Hunt Group, forged a split enabling them to operate in the north of the county; organising race meetings from 1865. The final ‘Warwickshire Hunt’ meeting took place on Tuesday 1st April 1856 W18, after which races were billed as ‘Leamington and Warwickshire Hunt’ and eventually became point to point meetings which are still held to this day, albeit at Mollington.
